About Us
The Great Lakes Regional Firebird Gathering is a group of folks who own and participate in regional and national events that feature or include the Pontiac Firebird and all of its associated models.
Four and half years ago, we decided there weren't enough events that focused on our love of the Firebird and plans were formulated to bring an event to the state of Michigan and its surrounding areas. We began by distributing "interest fliers" to find out if there would be an interest in such an event and we received a large number of positive responses. Thus began our effort to put together an all-Firebird event and the Great Lakes Regional Firebird Gathering (GLRFG) was born.
While new to organizing an event of this size, Doug and Paula (above) are not new to putting together car shows. In fact, some of you out there may know and recognize us by our two yellow Trans Ams!
Our partners in this endeavor, Mike and Laurie (left), are not rookies to the car show scene. With one show under their belts, they are truly seasoned organizers of GLRFG. They also own two Firebirds: a 1978 and 1981 Turbo Trans Am which took first in its class at the 2003 Trans Am Nationals!
For 2007, Cabela's in Dundee will be the venue and as many of you found out from the last 2 years, it offers a unique setting for a show of this kind. Plenty of amenities surrounding the area, very visible from U.S-23, and plenty of spectators!
Plans for the 2007 show are underway and we invite you to contact us with ideas or questions. We are looking for volunteers to assist us the weekend of the show with class teching, parking tow rigs, directing traffic to the show site, parking show cars, Friday set up, Sunday take down, trash/clean up detail (staying on top of it all weekend). We have 90 Gal totes coming from Stevens Disposal to be used, there on wheels, and registration table. Everyone had a super time at GLRFG 2006 and we’re confident 2007 will continue what we’ve begun.
